Kyocera Radio Campaign wins Green Award

20 November 2009 - Campaign praised as “a bold move for a commercial organisation.”

Kyocera is delighted to announce that its “Every Page Counts” radio campaign triumphed at the 2009 Green Awards for Creativity in Sustainability. The campaign, which aired on local and regional radio stations, uses humour to encourage organisations to reduce energy consumption and print costs by switching to more sustainably designed printer hardware.

The Green Awards, now in their fourth year, reward businesses and individuals for communicating sustainability in a creative and original way. The awards emphasise the role that needs to be played by the marketing and communications industries in informing people about green issues, products and lifestyle choices.

The Best Green Radio Campaign category was sponsored by Passion for the Planet and aimed at rewarding entries that communicate a green or sustainable message which were aired on national or local commercial radio station in the UK.

In giving the award to Kyocera the judges commented that Kyocera “had created a commercial which talked humorously about conserving energy and saving on print costs.” They also noted that: “Advertising on a green message represents a bold move for a commercial organisation and one worthy of commendation.”

Tracey Rawling Church, Director of Brand and Reputation at Kyocera commented: “We are delighted to have won this accolade in recognition of our sustainability-focused radio advertising campaign. Kyocera has been promoting environmental responsibility in UK business since the launch of the first ECOSYS printer in 1992, so to receive this award is wonderful recognition of all our hard work over the years.”

Iain Patton, Green Awards Founder explains ‘It’s always interesting to see which companies are entering and leading the way in sustainability communications. The increasing standard of work gives the industry a chance to improve business and the environment at the same time.”

Kyocera’s green radio campaign was devised by agency Fox Parrack Singapour and produced by Stewart Crowcombe at Reading 107FM.
