Kyocera supports international Sustainability Leadership Programme

15 July 2010 - IEMA-Approved sustainability leadership course to be held at Kyocera Technology Suite in London

Kyocera has announced a collaboration with the Centre for Sustainability and Excellence to promote training in sustainability leadership. Kyocera is venue sponsor for the two-day workshop which takes place on 14th & 15th October at its new Technology Suite in central London. Course attendees will be certified as Climate Change leaders with a qualification recognised by the Institute of Environmental Management and Assessment (IEMA).

The Climate Change workshop will enable participants to lead their organisations in developing strategies to manage and mitigate the impact of climate change. Areas of focus will include:

• Implementing a comprehensive Carbon Footprint Strategy
• The correlation between CSR and Climate Change in order to incorporate environmental initiatives within a CSR Strategy
• The effective use of tools for measuring and offsetting GHG emissions of services and products and its impact on your organisation
• Familiarisation with Global Standards, the Kyoto Protocol, GHG Accounting and Reporting
• Practical methods that can be used in order to further develop carbon footprint strategy

By participating as venue sponsor, Kyocera helps CSE to keep the cost of the training low, making it more manageable for organisations faced with financial pressures. Early booking discount is also available, bringing the cost of participation down from €1550 to €1395 for those who book before 14th May. An additional discount is available to members of Kyocera’s Green Card network, a free resource that promotes sustainable business practice.

The two-day workshop is highly interactive and the small group size ensures that participants benefit fully; a small number of places are still available. To register for the Climate Change workshop, or for more information please visit http://www.cse-net.org/shopproduct.aspx?Prod=34&CatId=3.

Commenting on the workshop, Tracey Rawling Church, Director of Brand and Reputation at Kyocera, said: “At a time when economic conditions make organisations think twice about employing external consultants, it can be more cost-effective to train in-house personnel to undertake the same work. This course delivers an internationally recognised accreditation, providing the skills required to develop and implement an in-house sustainability strategy. Astute environmental management can often result in significant financial savings in addition to improvements in environmental performance, making investing in training in this area a sound commercial strategy.”

Kyocera’s Green Card programme offers resources, information and best practice examples for organisations wishing to manage the impact of their business on the environment. Members benefit from regular free-to-attend conferences and opportunities to benefit from Kyocera’s partnerships with sustainable organisations across the UK. It is free to join, simply by visiting www.thegreencard.org.uk and selecting “sign up”.
