The sponsorship is an extension of Kyocera’s long relationship with Reading FC, which first saw them take over the official club sponsorship in the 2005/6 season. During that year the Royals dominated the Championship, finishing top with a record breaking 106 points. Now, as they enter the top flight for the first time in their 125 year history, Kyocera are both honoured and excited to be taking this monumental step with them.
As part of the sponsorship deal, Reading FC will play with Kyocera branding on their shirts as well as branding throughout the Madejski stadium. The agreement also includes continued support of the highly successful Sevens scheme, and a number of other community initiatives.
John Madejski, Chairman of Reading Football Club says:
“We are very pleased to have Kyocera as our club sponsor for the 2006/7 football season. Kyocera has been extremely supportive of Reading Football Club over the years and we look forward to beginning our campaign in the Barclays Premier League with them”.
Additionally, Tracey Rawling-Church, Head of Marketing for Kyocera UK Ltd comments:
“As an organisation local to Reading, we feel it is extremely important to support our local team and we are delighted to be club sponsors of Reading FC at such an exciting time. Reaching the Barclay’s Premiership is an achievement that really demonstrates the drive and ambition of the club and we are looking forward to watching the Royals going head to head with the best clubs in the World in the coming season”.
Kyocera UK’s sponsorship of Reading FC is part of Kyocera Corporation’s commitment to football around the globe. Kyocera Corporation owns Kyoto Purple Sanga who play in Japan’s J-League and two other Kyocera subsidiaries sponsor their local teams as well – Borussia Mönchengladbach in Germany and Atletico Paranaense in Brazil.
