Kyocera launches A3 ECOSYS colour printer
Fast, economical colour laser printer will enhance office productivity
29 January 2007
Kyocera has launched a new A3 office colour laser printer for workgroups and departments. The FS-C8100DN is aimed at users who require high quality, high speed and advanced finishing options for large print runs. The new colour printer, which benefits from the reliability and economy of ECOSYS technology, offers duplex as standard and full network capability. Data security is ensured through a variety of standard and optional features.
With a consumables cost of just 3 p per page for colour A4 prints, the FS-C8100DN enables in-house production of long colour print runs without incurring significant costs. Kyocera’s cartridge-free ECOSYS technology also reduces environmental impact by minimising the number of parts a toner cassette contains. While Kyocera toner cassettes contain just four separate components, competitor cartridges contain as many as 60, creating a significant waste problem.
The printer offers high quality colour output and a range of finishing options and features. A 3,000-sheet document finisher can staple up to 50 sheets and an optional booklet unit can create booklets of up to 64 pages. The maximum paper capacity of 4,100 sheets means the FS-C8100DN can handle large print runs. In addition, the Proof and Hold function lets the user print a single copy of a document for checking before printing the whole job.
“Most organisations are already using colour in the office environment,” said Jonathan Robbins, Product Manager at Kyocera. “The FS-C8100DN is aimed at users that want to extend their colour printing capabilities – whether that is with higher volumes or advanced output through a rich array of finishing options.”
Security is also a key priority with the FS-C8100DN. The Private Print function allows a document to be assigned a 4-digit security code, which has to be entered before it can be printed. This ensures that confidential documents remain confidential. In addition, the Security Watermark feature allows users to apply an subtle watermark to sensitive documents, which is automatically embedded on a document when it is printed. If the document is then copied, the watermark becomes more prominent, making it possible to tell the difference between the original and an illegal copy. An optional Data Security Kit also ensures high security of documents printed on the FS-C8100DN by automatically encrypting data stored on the hard disk and by overwriting data in accordance with ISO 15408 regulations instead of simply deleting it.
For those wanting to track the cost of office printing and colour output, the FS-C8100DN Departmental Code function, installed as standard, enables limits to be set for how much individuals or departments are allowed to print, allowing output to be controlled. Additional options for cost management include KMnet Admin, a web-based software solution that tracks expenditure across the network, and KYOcontrol Business Edition, an out-of-the-box solution offering cost management and secure printing.
The FS-C8100DN will be available from January, with prices starting from £7,499
