Kyocera and Midwich launch all-inclusive managed print service

01 October 2008

Kyocera and Midwich are pleased to announce the launch of a comprehensive managed print service that enables resellers to offer the entire range of Kyocera printers and multifunction copiers (MFPs) to customers on a contract basis

This is the first time that the full range of Kyocera MFPs has been available to customers via the distribution channel.

Historically Kyocera MFPs have been predominantly sold through the servicing dealer channel because of the need to service and support the products once they are in the field. The new managed print service will be fully supported by Kyocera’s technical partners and support centre, while ongoing consumables support and maintenance kits will be supplied directly by Kyocera in the form of KYOprint Packs. These are available for various page counts from 10,000 to 500,000 pages depending on the customer’s anticipated print volumes. This approach will allow resellers to benefit from selling a high margin product and receive ongoing consumables and support, as well as revenues for the duration of the three to five year contract, without the burden of having to stock consumables or service machines.

Kyocera has designed a specialised online product selector tool to enable the reseller to pick the best MFP or Printer based on the end user’s requirements. Resellers answer a series of simple questions and are provided with an itemised breakdown of the products and options needed.

Ian Joslin, General Manager of Kyocera UK, commented: “This is the first time that the full range of Kyocera multifunction copiers has been easily available to our reseller partners via distribution and we’re delighted that we’ve been able to work closely with Midwich to make this happen. Customers will be able to request a fully managed print service from their usual hardware supplier and benefit from Kyocera’s low cost per page and high product reliability.”

Alex Ward, Commercial Director of Midwich added: “We’re delighted to be the first Kyocera partner to offer this facility to our customers. It will enable our resellers to very easily tap into the lucrative managed services market, without having to invest in servicing and support facilities or hold toner stock. The online tools that have been developed will support resellers in selecting the appropriate tailored hardware configuration for their customers quickly and easily.”

The new Kyocera managed print service is available NOW from Midwich.  The scheme has been receiving fantastic coverage from leading channel titles CRN and MicroScope.
