Document imaging company becomes official partner of 10:10
Kyocera Mita, the pioneering document imaging company, is delighted to announce that it has become the first company to join 10:10’s Leader programme: a small group of ground-breaking organisations providing resources which will lay the foundations to take the 10:10 campaign to the next level. Kyocera Mita will work with 10:10 to highlight the actions that UK businesses can undertake to reduce their environmental impact, particularly with regard to efficient use of office equipment.
The 10:10 initiative is an independent campaign to engage all sectors of UK society and business in reducing carbon emissions by 10% during 2010. This is in line with climate scientists’ calculations of the emissions reduction needed in the next 18 months to prevent runaway climate change. The campaign is the brainchild of the team behind blockbuster climate awareness film “The Age of Stupid”.

Kyocera has been active in promoting environmental awareness in business since the launch of the first ECOSYS printers in 1992, and we’re looking forward to getting stuck into campaigning with the 10:10 team.”

Kyocera Mita recognises that it has a direct responsibility, as a producer of electronic office equipment, to reduce the impact of its products in design, manufacture and disposal, and an indirect responsibility to reduce their impact during use by customers.
Kyocera has developed a guide for users of all brands of office equipment explaining the optimum ways to configure them in order to reduce energy consumption and waste. 10:10 is an ambitious project to unite every sector of British society behind one simple idea: that by working together we can achieve a 10% cut in the UK’s carbon emissions in 2010.
10:10 was conceived by the team behind climate blockbuster The Age of Stupid and is run by a small independent team, supported by an army of volunteers and a dream team of partner organisations including ActionAid, Comic Relief, the Energy Saving Trust, the Carbon Trust, the Public Interest Research Centre and many more.
It’s easy to feel powerless in the face of a huge problem like climate change, but by bringing individual actions together under one banner, 10:10 enables everyone to make a meaningful difference. Launched in September 2009, the campaign has, to date, garnered the support of over 60,000 individuals and 2,000 businesses, including household names such as Sony, Adidas and Starbucks, and celebrities ranging from Delia Smith to Mark Ronson. 10:10 has been making waves in both central and local Government, counting many MP’s and Government departments in its ranks as well as one in three UK councils.
Each month 10:10 will focus on different ways to reduce your carbon emissions, offering expert advice on everything from insulation to recycling.
