KYOCERA Technology Used to Create one of the World’s Smallest Crystal Units Awarded Prestigious Research Prize in Japan

42nd Inoue Harushige Prize given to KYOCERA and Osaka University researcher for ultra-compact crystal units used in smartphones, wearables and IoT solutions

Kyoto/London – Kyocera Corporation (President: Hideo Tanimoto) announced that the company has received the 42nd Inoue Harushige Prize for developing ultra-small quartz crystal units for smartphones, wearable devices and innovative IoT solutions. The crystal units, which apply plasma CVM technology, were developed by Kyocera and Dr. Kazuya Yamamura, a professor at Osaka University. The 42nd award ceremony took place on July 25, 2017.

KYOCERA Launches New Electronic Connectors that Feature One-Touch Locking for Automated Assembly Processes

Durable, heat-resistant 6810 Series FPC/FFC connectors enhance manufacturing productivity for automotive, industrial and consumer electronics

Kyoto/London – Kyocera Corporation (President: Hideo Tanimoto) today announced its first electronic connectors to feature one-touch locking, which will be available globally in July 2017. Kyocera’s new 6810 Series flexible printed circuit (FPC) and flat-flex cable (FFC) connectors provide automatic locking upon full insertion, a key feature to support automated manufacturing and robotic assembly processes. The 6810 Series connectors also offer heat resistance up to 125°C (257°F) for automotive, industrial and consumer electronics applications.

KYOCERA Develops World’s Smallest Crystal Unit for Smartphones, Wearables

Kyoto/Neuss – Kyocera Crystal Device Corporation (herein “KCD”[1]; President: Shigeaki Kinori), a specialist in the development and manufacturing of crystal devices, today announced that it has developed the world’s smallest[2] crystal unit for smartphones, wearables, and other electronic devices. The new CX1008 quartz crystal unit measures just 1.0 x 0.8mm yet delivers the same electrical characteristics as Kyocera’s conventional CX1210 model, enabling it to be adopted without circuit board revision. Samples will be available in May 2017 with mass production slated for early 2018.
