Kyoto/ Neuss, 08 March 2010 — Kyocera Corporation announced that it has successfully developed the new KLE Series thermal printhead for desktop card printers used to print onto rigid materials such as ID cards and credit cards. The new printhead is capable of 300-dpi, full-color, high-resolution printing at 50mm per second — the industry’s highest speed*1 for this type of printhead. The company started mass production March 1, 2010.

KYOTO, September 18, 2009 — Kyocera Corporation (President: Tetsuo Kuba) today announced that it has developed the world’s fastest* inkjet printhead — the key component in inkjet printing equipment. Each nozzle in the new KJ4 Series printhead ejects ink at up to 60,000 dots per second (at 60kHz drive frequency); with 2,656 nozzles per head, the device is capable of printing approximately 150 million dots per second.

Kyoto/Neuss – With its latest development, Kyocera, one of the world's largest manufacturers of thermal printheads, has achieved resolution of 4,800 dpi (dots per inch). In metric terms, that corresponds to 188.9 dpm (dots per millimetre). Due to this technical breakthrough, the Japanese corporation expects a major broadening of the application of thermal printing.

The new KJ4 Series printhead has been successfully produced and sold on a limited basis; Kyocera will launch global development of its inkjet printhead business in April 2008.
